Got back from the bookstore a bit ago. Ye gods. It's really fucked up when a little 100-page copy of Cicero's In Catilinam I & II is about the same price as a huge-ass, thick, hardcover dictionary. $20 for a 100-page, paperback book???? WTF????

Anyway. $238 later... *grump* But it wasn't all bad. I got myself a nice sturdy water bottle, some pushpins for the corkboard behind my desk that I completely ignored last year, some post-it notes with Peter the Anteater on the top (*grin*), a couple large metal rings designed for looseleaf paper, and a pack of 240 index cards. I spent the last half an hour or so punching holes in the index cards and putting them onto one of the metal rings. Voila -- I now have an index-card ring that has about four times as many cards as the pre-made ones that I bought for Latin over the summer, and for about the same price. Yay for do-it-yourself.

I'm excited to start Greek. ^_^ Yes, I know I'm a nerd.

Here are 100 banned books of 1990-2000. Bold in the ones you've read. Bonus: Italicize the ones you first read as part of a school assignment or checked out from a school library.

Some of the others sound very familar, but I can't swear I've read them

After playing around with MapQuest for a while, I have discovered that the distance from Middle Earth to the Albertson's shopping center is about 1/5th of the distance that it was from CV. This is good for grocery shopping, but it's great because there's a Starbucks in the shopping center. Less than one mile round trip, and I can get myself a nice glass of chai...*drool*

I have also discovered that Tazo sells their chai tea in concentrate, Just Add Milk. This is has just about made my day. Unfortunately, I'm having trouble finding places where I can buy it. The only place that sells non-decaf Tazo Chai concentrate requires that you buy at least $15 worth of items at a time. That's 5 boxes of concentrate. Each box makes 2 quarts. That's two and a half gallons of chai. I may be a chai addict, but I'm not that addicted. I'm worried about it going bad before I can drink it all, since I don't know whether it needs refrigeration or not.
