My muse is one odd duck
Aug. 24th, 2004 06:20 pmI suspect she may have multiple personality disorder. I mean...she's got me working on a steamy contemporary fantasy vampire murder mystery series...and contemplating a Regency romance? o_O How much more different can you get?
(I told Erik Georgian when I was talking with him about it earlier today, but then I did some more digging through Google and it looks like P&P is actually set right at the verrry beginning of the Regency period)
Sometimes my muse can be a real bitch. I was hoping this would turn out to just be a fangirl fad, a brief bout of "OMG SQUEE I WANNA BE JUST LIKE JANE!" (yes, this was born from my P&P marathon on Saturday ;) ), but it's still stuck with me, and everything around me seems to be conspiring to remind me of this obsession. I read the second half of Flowers From the Storm yesterday -- and it's Georgian. I read a blurb about the upcoming Reese Witherspoon movie, Vanity Fair, in Entertainment Weekly today -- and it's also set at the beginning of the Regency period.
And this is all frustrating the hell out of me. I would love to write a book set in this time period, but...there's a reason I've stayed away from historical romance so far. I really, really dislike research. Not researching the basics, because those are fairly easy to find, but eventually I end up needing to know some little detail that no one considered important enough to write about, so I can't find it anywhere... *sigh*
My muse seems determined, though. So, um...anyone have any links to decent Regency info sites?

It's been...how many hours since I made the last post? two and a half? three?
Check out how I spent those past few hours, ( if you dare... )
